Geriatric Care: Training India's Caregiving Workforce
Pratyusha Foundation's geriatric care initiative reflects a deep commitment to youth empowerment through skills training in one of India's fastest-growing social sectors. Aligned with national goals under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the programme actively strengthens India's professional caregiving workforce.

Think Tank & Advisory Role for NISD & NIOS
The National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, plays a lead role in designing and delivering geriatric care and caregiver training — including certificate and diploma courses covering skill development, counselling, dementia care, and elderly management.
Pratyusha Foundation has provided practitioner-driven insights for modules on community engagement, hands-on care protocols, and youth employability strategies — directly shaping curricula used in training programmes nationwide.
2024-25 Initiative
International Conference on Elderly Empowerment & Graceful Ageing
Pratyusha Foundation co-organised a landmark three-day international conference at the National Institute of Health & Family Welfare (NIHFW), New Delhi — bringing together experts, policymakers, and community leaders to chart pathways for dignified ageing in India.
Dates: December 13–15, 2024 Venue: NIHFW, Munirka, New Delhi
Set against the backdrop of significant demographic shifts — India's elderly population is projected to reach 12.5% by 2026 and nearly 20% by 2050 — the conference addressed the urgent need to reevaluate policies, societal attitudes, and support systems for older adults. It provided a platform for discussion on ageism, integrated care models, age-friendly environments, and the role of research and innovation in creating sustainable elderly care solutions.
